Lately I have been picking up some outstanding, quality raw pieces on ebay at anywhere from 15 to 40% of Trends prices. Since a lot of the stuff on ebay is purely junk I feel that I am on a pretty good roll at the moment. It seems like this is a very good time to be a buyer. If the Canadian coin market is currently in the doldrums, I'm lead to believe that Trends pricing needs to be adjusted to reflect the current reality. This is probably not something that Canadian coin sellers want to see but Trends seem disconnected from the marketplace. Anyone else want to weigh in with their opinion on the state of the Canadian coin market?

Usually the Coin and Paper Money Market starts to slow down when the weather is nicer outside.

I know you asked about Canadian coins, but I think it is related so I'll bring it up. I've been getting a lot of numismatic deals because everybody is worried about silver and gold.

ebay has offered two different free listing offers this month plus the usual 50 free listings. I think there is probably an overload of auctions going on right now.

Yes, the Canadian market has been in the dumper since the Financial crisis of 2008. Recent ebay sale of a 1942 ICCS ms65 50c (trends $1500) sold for $500.

Found a 1939 silver dollar for $14.50 during the drop!! Not a key date or anything, but it's an early commemorative (the first commemorative obverse coin ever minted for circulation in Canada?) and at that price I can't complain. I've also been trading cheap yard-sale .925 for silver dimes for my date set.

It sure is a BUYER'S market! In the past 2 years, on ebay.com a total of 171,000 Canadian coins were sold. A total of 99.6% of the coins sold were under $500.00 and the average price was between 50-60% of trend price! Glenn

Glenn I don't think a lot of sellers realize how to calculate profits on sale and actually lose money on their sales with all the fees involved.
