I am wondering if there is a way, or how, to tell the exact year of one of these. I know it's a Chiao y#545 1967-1974, but not sure how to tell what year. Any help? Thanks. The pics are the exact coin in question.
The date is on the obverse (top picture) read from right to left, literally "Republic of China 5 10 6 Year" 5x10=50+6=56; 56+1912=1968 The Republic of China was founded in 1912. Any time you see that leftmost character and some numbers it's a year. Sometimes it's read left to right, sometimes top to bottom.
Quote: Are you saying mine is a 1968? Or were you just giving me an example of how to figure it out?
Yes, he's saying yours is an 1968. I actually wanted to post pretty much the same explanation a few hours ago, but the post didn't go through and I decided, hey, doesn't really matter, someone else would say it anyway.
