Did I dream this or did I read somewhere that the 1974 Ike has a small S (rare) and most have a large S mint mark ?

I didn't find any information about a "small S" Ike dollar from 1974. But I did just a quick search on the net. If it does/did exist I assume that it would have showed up in the search, though. Maybe jbuck will chime in soon to verify.

I never heard of that. I am going to say you might have been dreaming about it.

after looking at mine and the pictures I can't tell which is close.
I will try to get some pictures . I did notice that the mint marks on my two silver proofs are in different places.

Mint marks were applied to the die by hand prior to 1990, so this is expected.
