i believe I have the Large S variety I recently found roll hunting. what is the kicker is that this coin is in at least AU! help on grades would help, I just dont want to be redundant in posting here AND the grading thread.

there looks to be steps still evident on the reverse and the luster was hard to capture, but I think you can still see it

Thanks for the link. It was very helpful. Next question would be what grade and how much could I get for it.

Agreed this is likely the Large "S" variety ... very nice find indeed from a roll search!

You suggest some level of mint luster remains ... by observations of wear I'm going perhaps AU-something.

Some (hopefully) constructive feedback is to improve your otherwise nice photos .... place the coin on a neutral color background, take the shot straight overhead (not at an angle) ... and crop the image to show the coin and not the background.

Grading support and our enjoyment of the find would be much enhanced.

Here is a link to an slabbed AU-58 example that might help you to determine value:

I believe that is the large S and a nice one too! The asked price for the one on ebay is not a real indicator of what you can get for yours.

Nice nickel.

What years other than 1928 have large and small mint marks?

Thanks guys! I wish I can get a better picture that shows more luster. Then I'm sure you would think its closer to AU 50
