I don't have one but want to learn how to detect these. I tried googling the images but it wasn't that helpful.

Here are the major markers seen on every coin (arrows) The most important, of course, is the foot of the 7 under the 8. The date position is important too, as it's different on every die. If you have one you're wondering about...

I don't own any 1888 Indian Head cents. What I was thinking of doing was looking over my dealers and see if he missed any. @DV, thanks for the help.

If you do, it would be the find of the lifetime. As of now, I think there are no more than 30 total. It's possible there are some still out there--good luck!

I don't if this is allowed but it was a great read that I found as I was looking around for info on the 88/7. It even has Rick Snow contributing to the thread. (046) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed &threadid=827929&STARTPAGE=1
* guess not

Ah...I found that thread. Yeah--someone sure lucked out for $4. They don't explain where they found it, but I doubt it was ebay.

I liked that he had to convince Snow it was an 88/7. Yeah hard telling where he cherry picked it.

I can only guess Rick Snow gets countless requests daily to look at IHC pictures But that one was a good example of the 8/7 hiding in plain sight--due to crud. Finding the Snow-1 would be my "holy grail", but I have switched over to world overdates--it's been more rewarding.

The Snow-1 is definitely a rare coin. The PCGS population report is 44 coins total--so a few more have been found since I last checked.
