You ship to a location and ebay takes care of the global shipping for you basically. Sounds like a great idea, but the downfall is their charges are expensive and a lot of international buyers will avoid someone using it due to the cost of shipping

Well great, I just sold something and ebay is telling me that I can't send an invoice because the object will be handled by the global shipping program. I don't want to do this, how can I change it to where I don't have to do this? Please help. Thanks!

Once its sold youre stuck with it. If the buyer really wants it Id let them do it. But you have to opt out of the program somewhere in your settings if you want out of it in the future. I honestly cant remember where it is, probably under my account somewhere. I didnt even know I was a part of it and just stumbled across the opt out page one day

As long as the buyer agrees to it you wont get hit with the fee and is fine. Maybe let him know shipping will be cheaper for him if he lets you do it that way. If they dont agree youll have to pay the final value fee on it though

It probably wouldnt be that bad if you could exclude Canada from the global program as an American seller. Shipping may be expensive but its really easy to horrible miscalculate shipping costs around the world as a seller. Canada though is pretty straight forward and can be done much cheaper on your own

My big question on the Global Shipping Program is will they accept padded envelopes for overseas shipments? USPS refuses to take padded envelopes for overseas shipping except for going to Canada. Royal pain in the backside - have to put anything going overseas in flat envelopes or boxes and then hope I get the right clerk who doesn't think that a nonbendable item is a parcel and can go as flat rate with a surcharge. But I digress...

Im pretty sure it doesn't matter how you send it to them (other than protecting the product) since they repackage it to send to its final destination. I dont think they just slap a new label on the existing shipment.

I just sold a Macbook to a guy in Canada and used it - no issues, he said everything arrived fast, no problems, cost me $14.95 to ship, when the buyer first inquired if I'd ship it to him in Canada, I looked up the cost through USPS and it was $76.00, don't know if he had to pay more, but I only paid the USA postage to get it to ebay's shipping center - I think it was in Kentucky, so cheap for me as a seller, he ran the bidding up to where I did okay on the auction, if he hadn't been bidding my old laptop would have sold way to cheap (like $30.00) but I was able to get almost $70.00 for it due to the Global Shipping program and with little cost or effort from me it was worth it. I also sold a couple of keyboard (music) memory cards to the UK using it, fast, and under $3.00 to ship them. I say it's GREAT as a seller. The laptop shipped in a priority mail large box, the memory cards in small padded envelopes.

So where did the extra shipping fees come in?
