1827 Bust Half Dollar Variety Help?

Stafford New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 03/13/2014 2:47 pm Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and I would like to get some input on this nice 1827 Curl 2 that I recently traded for. I think it might be the scarcer variety. Can anyone help identify this for me? Report this Post to the Staff

cipster Pillar of the Community United States 2364 Posts	Posted 03/13/2014 4:10 pm Stafford Nice coin! There are lots of Bust Half collectors here. I'm not an expert but there are only two curled base varieties out of the 49 varieties for that year. I think yours is O-146 Rarity 2. It shares the same obverse as O-147 but the T/I alignment on the reverse leads me to O-146. The O-147 is the scarcer variety (R4) Member ANA and EAC "You got to lose to know how to win". cipster Pillar of the Community United States 2364 Posts	Posted 03/13/2014 6:26 pm Yes the A-A alignment is one of the identifying attributes. However, the T of States and the I of Pluribus make the identity clear here. On your coin the I aligns to the left side of T. In O-147 the I aligns way right of the T. Also the 3 a's on the reverse and their alignment to the dentils and other identifying markers. Member ANA and EAC "You got to lose to know how to win".
