barryg Pillar of the Community United States 5862 Posts	Posted 04/22/2014 09:32 am I'm not sure why, but I seem to have more coins in my type collection minted in 1853 than any other year. Part of that is because of the "Arrows & Rays" variety of quarters and half dollars that was only minted that year, but I think the rest is just coincidental. Catbert Valued Member United States 72 Posts	Posted 04/22/2014 4:29 pm RPD = repunched date "Repunched Dates can be accidental but most are caused by a mint employee correcting a blundered date that was punched to weakly or incorrectly with a second punching of the date. Evidence of the first date punch will usually be slight, but sometimes heavy, but can be seen near and around the date digits." Report this Post to the Staff
