I bought this coin several months ago, and was pleased with it until I took a better look at the pictures. Alas, the clasp, a key feature, has been "tooled", and crudely, at that. Take a look, and learn a lesson! Those of you with good eyes, count your blessings. Those with eyes like mine...always use magnification and lighting before buying! Trust will only take you so far.

Thats a shame. Was the coin bought from a dealer or online?

Dang-it and Miss Liberty on the 1836 CBH is the best looking (Beauty) likeness of the gal I've ever seen. I told my wife once that if I had to choose between... I never finished the sentence. ROTFLing

Spider...the coin was purchased from a dealer who carries a lot of high end stuff. To be honest, he may not have seen this tooling, either. We all tend to get a little sloppy, I suppose, and "see" what we expect to see. I confess that I didn't look as closely as I might normally because of the store I was in. Foolish, foolish, foolish. The store, BTW, is in a city a thousand miles distant.

A little "thumbing" and that'll disappear. Or consider it a "reference" piece.

Yep, that clasp is tooled and it looks like the hair has been tooled too Look at the bright side, at least you have a good tooling reference coin now.

Sorry about the tooling on your bustie, hunter20ga. I know it is sickening to find these things on coins in your collection. Thanks for educating us on what to look out for!
