Looks like a quad HP ? As to dot the Charlton standard catalogue p.199 (2015 edition) illustrates your answer to the Dot placement. Hope this helps..............nice coin !

Thanks for the help, it's becoming apparent that the catalog would be a good investment for me.

@coin scavenger.....................any book on numismatics is a good investment! You can probably find a good deal of the past Charltons for low prices that have a lot of varieties and such in the back of the book. The toughest one to find is the edition that has large cent varieties, 2011 65th edition.

I don't see a dot, but I see 3 (possibly 4) HPs. There's too much glare to give a meaningful grade guess.

Coin Scavenger..If you go further down this page and look at the posting."Which 47 Dollar is the most scarce" ,
....there is a nice pic of mine with the dot in plain view..
Your dollar here is very nice and I would call it a high AU..and very close to a bag-marked 60..
It's been handled a bit but I don't see any wear..It's a nice tough dollar there..

sometimes the dot is very hard to see, and other times it is easy. I have one where it had "metal flow", ICCS certified. AND, the most important is that the DOT is at the right position. I do not see a dot on this coin looking at the pictures.

Thanks for the super large pics and great and easy to see details..
...but I'm still not any closer to understanding the phrase.."metal flow". My 47 dot ICCS label has no such addition on it.

ICCS does not designate this. I am no expert. over time and with use, apparently the metal starts to change in dimension. i.e. the actual base spreads out. This is how I understand this: when a coin is struck a number or letter will have a certain measurement. But with use and time, it starts to change the base dimension. Perhaps SPP would chime in and explain it. He knows everything about it.
