Correct, an "Indian temple token". Specifically, a Hindu token, of the design known as a "ramatanka". "Temple tokens" are not "coins", nor even "tokens" since they are not intended to have a monetary use. They are religious amulets. If you run a forum search for "ramatanka" you'll find a lot of other people wondering what these things are, such as this thread from a few months ago.
