Hello. I recently found a 1997 dime minted in philadelphia. It is normal except for the fact that the tail side lacks the nickel/zinc cover. It doesn't seem to be worn and is in pretty good shape. I was just wondering the rareness of this coin, and what it might be worth.

With the number of coins being produced today errors like this can happen. They usually occur in the production of the planchet. I don't follow error coins but I'm sure if you go to the error catagory and post your question they will give you a better answer.

Carman is correct. The nickel-cupro coating can often come off during the planchet process. While they bring a few bucks, they are one of the most common "true" error coins.
