I must admit , my first love is coins, but I have a small collection of currency . The coin collection grows much more quickly though ! I have to vote for collecting both.

I have collected coins since the 1950's, however when my wife and I were fortunate to travel to different places (Europe, South America, Mexico, Cayman Islands), we picked up a lot of paper money, and it is now a part of our collection.

I've only recently discovered currency and have started a small collection, whereas sometimes I'm surprised the floor hasn't given out beneath my desk for the weight of the coins atop it. :)

I have a few CU $2 bills and some star notes but that is it. I don't have the currency bug yet and there are a lot of coins on my wish list.

I collect both, though in very different ways. I'm primarily interested in 18th and 19th century American coinage, so obviously there's little of that in circulation. To build my collection means I have to buy what I want. However, I really enjoy watching the currency that passes through my hands, looking for star notes and notes with interesting serial numbers. IN a way, you can say that my currency collecting has taken the place of the coin collecting I did as a kid where I went through pocket change looking for dates and "old coins."

Well, my mother gave me four consectutive serial numbered two dollar bills that were given to her from my Great Grandfather. They're in perfect condition too ! I see it as I'm only the caretaker of these for future generations of our family though. My father has also given me several silver certificates over the years and I have a $5.00 one too. Personally I've only bought a few of them at coin auctions and estate auctions, but I really do like them...... but for me too, coins are my first love ! So, having said all of that ..... I vote for both as well

I primarily collect coins but do find myself checking each bill that passes through my hands for star notes and weird serial numbers and collect all of them I find and I also usually keep quite a few $2 bills for my daughter when the tooth fairy comes and stuff like that

I used to collect coins exclusively, but came to realize that there was much more room for great designs on paper money. For those of you who don't know what I mean, compare the Canada 1870, 1900 and 1923 shinplaster notes with the 2005,2006,2007 shinplaster $300 coins; there's no comparison.

I try to keep my focus on coins, since my brother covers currency. I have started picking up notes, however, since they are easy to pick up when travelling along with coins.

I collect both. When I first started collecting it was mostly US coins. Then I went to the darkside and have worked my way into currency. And in the past 2 years it has been more focused on currency. Right now I have a ton of both and want to sell some off at some time

I only really "collect" coins. However I did inherit a nice collection of bills along with my starter coins but the only thing that has really grown was the coins!
