Quote: Do not worry - they will be pleased without being bothered by "450" and "COA"(which are meaningless for them). You can say the same for most "Limited mintage" coins as well. So whats your point?

Quote: So whats your point? Same like in the beginning: From the profit point of view the framed "In Flanders Fields" similar to T-shirt with the sticker of the poem.

Quote: I decided to partner my $20 Flanders Fields coin with the standalone stamp panel and a First Day Cover (with the gold postmark). Had no interest in putting up a framed panel on my wall, so this low-cost pair worked fine for me. To each their own, I would rather have a 450 limited mintage beautifully framed pane with gold cancel of which only 450 were produced with this cancel on this pane. Not bits and pieces of high mintage low priced stamps/covers.

@Northerncoins: It's clear you and I are are collectors following different paths. No need to repeatedly dismiss my approach. I wish you the best with your collection.

Each with his approach.
@Norterncons: What is the point of "cancellation"? Sounds like makes stamps to stamps that impossible to use.
For this item you with commems added to collections different things: he has enhanced his coin with the stamp panel you bought standalone limited item. Both of you happy.

Quote: Sounds like makes stamps to stamps that impossible to use. Lol you just do get it. These are never meant to be "used' that is why you buy the cheap version. These are are low limited edition of 450 with CoA. So in your view coin producers such as the RCM should not put CoAs with their limited mintage coins? The CoA is there for a reason ,be it coins or stamps or whatever else. There is a premium on these items , this is normal, why degrade this with the silliness of saying "oh" just use the cheap whatever it might be and its the same thing when its clearly not.

I just was curious about cancellation. Of cause they never meant to be used. But imagine NCLT coin, that you can not deposit at bank for face value or even for metal content cause it cancelled That's why we collect the coins in majority and only a little artistic rounds and bars. Cause the love for the money is deep inside us (coins collectors). haven't you discovered the "Wait for me Daddy" limited frames? And how many limited other stuff they printed? Reminds flood of limited 1000 mintage coins from over the world.

When the first 75th anniv Superman silver coins came out, I paired them with; Superman: Set of 5 Postage-Paid Postcards (Stamp Images) Superman™ Uncut Press Sheet: ONLY 7,500 available Superman™ Souvenir Sheet Official First Day Cover - Cancelled in Toronto or Metropolis Superman™ Set of 5 Stamp Booklets Superman™ Set of 5 Postcards (Booklet Cover Images) Superman™ Souvenir Sheet
Also bought; Uncut Press Sheet Haunted Canada Haunted Canada: Set of 5 Postage-Paid Postcards to go with the freaky lenticular Haunted Canada Coin.
I figure I will let it all go with the coins someday.

Quote: haven't you discovered the "Wait for me Daddy" limited frames? Ya sold out long ago from 2014, None on ebay so those who have them are not parting with them. they have 450 mintage as well.I actually wouldn't mind having one of those but seeing none are for sale, eh oh well. I dont think you will find any going for issue price either, way above issue I suspect if any come up for sale at all that is.

Quote: When the first 75th anniv Superman silver coins came out, I paired them with; Ya I did the same thing, but sold the superman uncut sheets I had, still have the other superman stamps, postcards etc. I just found that I didn't even look at the uncut sheet since I didn't want to damage them I never took them out of the tube, well just one sheet once. This is one reason I like the framed pane, I look at it pretty much everyday on my wall , it is as I have said before, very well done framing job, low mintage, cant go wrong. Only thing I worry about is UV rays, may have to make a cover for it that I can remove put back on easily.

Sorry to resuscitate an old thread. Just moved back to Canada and found my old coin collection, so decided to start up the hobby again. I settled on the 1 oz in this thread and am thrilled with it in hand. I bought it from The Coin Shoppe at a bit of a discount and was pleased with the service and quickness of the experience. I just had a question since I get a little obsessive. When I admire the coin at various lighting angles, I started to see a very small circular reflection that caught the light where the silver should be flat. I took off the cover of the case to make sure I wasn't seeing things. It's the tiny dot by the r. Apologies for the finger reflection but it was the only way to get the dot to even show up on the photo. Is this a pit and is this worth returning a coin over? I think they only had one remaining at this price so just seeing if I'm being overly dramatic or not.

I'd like to help, but your image doesn't show enough detail for me to know exactly what the "dot" is. If it is a small depression or "pit" as you describe, it was likely caused by a piece of debris being caught between the die and planchet when the coin was struck. Such imperfections are encountered on modern NCLT coins frequently enough to not be rare.
Whether to return it depends on how distracting it is to you. Do you have to look for it at just the right angle under just the right light to see it or is it always starting you in the face however you view the coin? If the former, I would consider keeping it, if the latter I would suggest returning it.
I always tell fellow collectors - "Coins don't heal!" Impairments today will be there tomorrow and on into the future. It's up to you to decide if you can live with the "injury."
