Oh good grief! The Mint really messed up on this one.

2006-Nickel

I can hardly wait Looks as if the 80 Million "NEW" fans of the Nickel will have to look for something different to collect.

And just for added enjoyment, this will be the design that your great-grandchildren will carry in their pockets.

This is so sad that I am ashamed of what mediocrity we settle for in this nation.

Just in case you didn't know, not only are we stuck forever with this obverse, but (and aren't we lucky) we get stuck with the same old tired image of Monticello. (Oh yeah, they touched it up)

Sure am glad I don't collect the new issues. I would be embarassed to admit I had a collecion of these. I must say it better that just the eyes and nose of Jefferson as seen on the 2005 issue.

The portrait looks very good in pencil !! but I'm afraid it
will Lose all of the appeal as a coin!!

The reverse, the step collectors will be OK with it,
But the Historical, Freedom and Liberty I want my coins
to mean something collector will have only classics as was before!!

Now Catman I must disagree!!! The less I see of Jefferson the happier I am. Actually the less I see out of any politician the happier I am. I never thought I would say this but "Thank God for foreign coins!!!" They may never make me a rich man but at least the options are never ending!

Creepy! I saw that picture in the paper this morning and it just made me think of someone you'd make your kids come inside if you saw this dude walking down the street if you know what I mean!

And I had only just gotten used to the last Jefferson nickel. Seems like only yesterday they came out. If they're gonna change nickels so frequently every 67 years, then I'm just gonna boycott them and spend only my good old Flying Eagle cents.

I like to see change in the coinage so I'm not too bothered by the design. I am however bothered by the permanence of the new design. It will literally take an act of congress to change it again. =/

Hey Mike, Is that some sort of government regulated dog in your avatar? Kind of looks messed up so I figured the government had a hand in it?
