Nicolas Sanson prepared maps for the French Royal Court. This etched silver map by the Franklin Mint was based on his c1650 map of North America. There was some obvious confusion at the time about the West coast of the continent.

I love Franklin Mint silver / gold maps~!! After seeing Patrick's pictures on the thread below I knew I had to do something similar with my (much smaller) world bullion collections. He is a really nice young man and even gave me some pointers and links to help me find some of the coins I was looking for. Now his is MUCH nicer than mine but he got a head start of a few years on me with collecting world bullion. Thanks again for answering my emails! Take a look at his awesome collection below......

That is very nice.

I love looking at old maps and seeing how cartography has evolved.
