Hey, New purchase. I think this might be a proof (I bought it as a UNC). The fields have good reflectivity. I would love additional opinions. Thanks! Edited by OLCoins 10/15/2015 3:59 pm

I don't know enough about proofs to give a definite answer, but it definitely looks promising.

If it's UNC that has the sharpest strike of any UNC FEC I've ever seen.

Yeah, the strike is so good on this coin that I really, really hope it's not just a Chinese replica. 'Cuz that would really stink, you know?

If the Chinese can make them this nice, we are in big trouble.

I know electrotypes are really popular for proof or pattern coins... Your looks legit to me, but I'm still learning about fake coins.

I see nothing to make me suspect a forgery; the date is correct, legend position obverse and reverse good, even has a bit of reverse clash towards the inner upper right of the wreath. Rims and denticles look correct.
Someone needs to get this to Rick Snow and let him take a look and see what he thinks. If it's UNC I would say it's gotta be MS65RD at worst.

I'm going to send it to PCGS soon. Even if it does turn out genuine it won't be a 65. There is a light hairline scratch from D in UNITED towards the wing. I don't think it's enough to details it but who knows. Keeping fingers crossed!

I went and looked at a few Proof FEC and if this is not a proof it sure is proof like .. I also looked over probably half dozen high MS coins just for comparison and none were struck as well as your coin , so I'd have to say my bet would be that it's a proof coin PR65.. Here's a ngc PR65 coin and in my opinion yours looks a bit better !!
