***Gilbert Paper*** (Series 1963)
Since the start of the series 1963 $1 Federal Reserve Note Production, there have been 3 Test Currency Experiments, the 1st Test was with Currency Paper from Gilbert Paper, a Run of 640,000 notes (20,000 sheets) on the series 1963 C-A Block..
To my knowledge, no 3rd print Inverted print or Overprint on back have been confirmed.. Recent research shows the Gilbert Paper Company can be a CCF Thread in itself as Gilbert Paper delivered 1,235,396 sheets to the BEP..
***Natick Test Paper*** (Series 1977A)
In August 1981 the BEP printed the following Natick Test Currency on Series 1977A Federal Reserve Notes (Test #2)..
There were three full $1.00 Runs of 40,000 sheets per Run (#60,61,62) printed for the E-H Block and 1 partial Run of 8,000 sheets in Run #12 - E-* Block.
For the first & only time, the BEP printed 1 partial Run of 8,000 sheets of the same Natick Test Paper on Run #10 of the same E-* Block, this time on the Series 1977A $10 Note.
In Run #62 of the E-H Block, a span of 17 half-sheets (quadrants #3&4) have the Overprint on Back Error.
Unlike the individual serial number charts I made for the Web-Fed Overprint Errors below, I decided to combine all 17 sheet serial numbers into 1 Combination Serial Number Chart.
It should be noted that only 9 of the 17 numbers have the Overprint Error Confirmed (Census Notes), and it is possible the other 8 serials in this span were placed in the correct COPE Position and are not errors.
Confirmation is required on any of the 8 sheets listed in the Serial Number Chart that is NOT listed in the Census, and would have the following last 2 digits; 62,63,64,67,69,71,73 and 74....
I should also mention that the 3 Notes listed in Bart that start with E7887xxxxH have been deleted from my Census of confirmed errors as they do not follow the skip-numbering used for this series... Consultation with the web- master at uspapermoney.info believe it to be a typo as none of the notes is pictured in Bart's book..
Should any E7887xxxxH overprint error be posted in this thread, I will make a serial number chart/charts for said note/notes and post here..
Should you or someone you know have a Natick Overprint Error that can be added to my Census, please post the note in this thread.
If requested, I can list the note owners name above the serial number as I post the updated Census Chart.

{FYI ~ I emailed one Author requesting serial # info for my Census of experimental error notes and received a reply they couldn't help... I had to purchase the book, and unlike them, my Census is public and I try my best to attribute every error note listed in this thread... All Charts are self made for my education & shared to all that want a copy for their personal use.}

***Web-Fed Test notes*** (series 1988A,1993,1995)
The 3rd Test was designed to be a normal production issue to replace the 32 subject sheet-fed press.
The Alexander Hamilton Web-Fed Press was in operation for only 4 & 1/2 years with about half the time the press being inoperable and requiring repairs...
When Congress halted production on this press in 1996, all 3 production series, 1988A,1993 & 1995 were now considered a failed Experimental Test...
This thread is a self-imposed Census of confirmed Inverted Prints on the front, and Overprints on the back error notes..
It is my hope that others can locate the missing errors.
I notice countless new CCF Members have joined since my last Census request on Web-Press Overprint Errors.
In my quest for a accurate Census of *Confirmed* series 1988A to 1995 Web-Press Inverted 3rd print on front & 3rd print on back Overprint Errors that I have located by 2005, I needed to purchase the current June 2004 edition of "The Standard Handbook of $1 Web-Fed Test Notes - 1988A,1993,1995 (2nd edition)" by Bob Kvederas Jr. & Sr.
Countless hours/months/years have been spent searching multiple Auction Sites, Auction Archives, Online Dealer Inventory, and recently a Published "Letters to the Editor" Census Request in
Coin World..
As a weekly subscriber to
Coin World since the mid 90's, and them having published past 1/2 Page articles on Errors and a 1999 Guest Commentary piece, I was extremely disappointed when they published a stock photo of a non-error web note, instead of the certified G-P Block Overprint on back Web Error and 2 Serial Number Charts showing confirmed known errors from both the A-F & G-P Block in the article.. I had posted both Block error notes and serial number Charts are on their facebook photos page prior to letter request.
Current confirmed census shows only 5 overprint on back from each Block.. Like the F* web note, maybe the BEP removed the balance from their Inventory when the error became public. I questioned the BEP on this and never received a reply.
My Census charts includes confirmed serial number Invert & Overprint Notes from the following;
#1) The Standard Handbook of $1 Web-Fed Test Notes - 1998A, 1993, 1995 Second Edition ~ By Bob Kvederas Jr. & Bob Kvederas Sr.
#2) United States Paper Money Errors, A Comprehensive Catalog & Price Guide (3rd Edition) ~ By Dr. Frederick J. Bart
#3) Additional error notes I had personally confirmed or purchased over the Internet.
To aid in my search for confirmed Test Note Errors, I have made 16 subject (1/2 sheet) COPE Assigned Serial Number Plate Position Charts for both books mentioned above, with credit mentioned from each Author for confirmed serial number... I have updated both books with additional confirmed serial number errors not listed in each book..
Most of the confirmed Inverted 3rd print on front serial number charts, only 1 or 2 notes have been confirmed (with most being Plate Photos).. I followed a set of 2 notes that had been listed on 3 different Auction Houses since June 2001...
Again, it could be possible many inverted notes, like the reverse overprint and F* notes were caught at the BEP and destroyed (can not prove this theory).

**Serial Number Charts for confirmed A-F & G-P Blocks overprint on back error**

I have been looking for both these errors for over 15 years, and was able to add a 5th confirmed note to each block.
Should anyone know a collector that owns any of the above notes, please have them post them on this thread as I will be useing this thread as my main CENSUS source to chart and update all known Test Errors.

It has taken me some 15+ years to obtain 1 note from each known overprint on back Test error, and curious how many others have a set. I do not own any Inverted Web errors and hope this thread locates more errors... New confirmed notes can have the owners name under the serial number & revised Charts will be posted as long as this thread remains active.
{info}~ COPE takes a 32 subject sheet & trims it in half vertically, into 2 Half Sheets.. The Left side is Plate Position A1 to H2 (quadrants #1&2), The Right side is Plate Position A3 to H4 (quadrants #3&4)
Rarity,
Some 22+ years after the series 1988A Printing, only 1 or 2 Inverted 3rd print on front Web errors notes from the confirmed 12 sheets (10 series 1988A + 2 series 1995) have been confirmed..
Only 5 notes from each block of only 2 confirmed overprint on back sheets having been confirmed, these errors are rarer then any regular production error notes listed in any error book (my opinion only)..
As an example, the KING of ERRORS, the double denomination error that can sell for over $35,000.00 each and above, show a census of Large Double Denomination Error notes show 42 examples listed in Bart, plus a 2015 discovery 1882 Charter #6025 I recently added to his census, bringing the total of Large King Errors to 43 Notes.
On the Small Size King of Errors, bart lists 73 Notes. I added a 74th Double Denomination error that was not listed in his book, it was a $5/$10 FRN series 1934d - serial number J43180745A that sold the 2nd week of Jan. 2015 & advised the seller that I just added his note to Barts Census.
Let's not forget the 1976 $2.00 Double 3rd Print, with a known census of at least 26 error notes valued at $20,000 in CU condition.
This thread is for Natick and Web-Fed Overprint & inverted errors only...
Everyone makes mistakes, and as hard as I try for a accurate Census, it is possible I could have overlooked something and request that any mistakes or corrections needing to be made, please advise..
I would like to add that I only purchased 2 Currency Books in the last 15 years, and there may be other error books that list a more complete census, and since my G-P serial number error was listed in Bart, he may have found the number here, (it has been pictured on photobucket for years and may have come up in a search) as I am the 2nd owner, the original owner does not collect currency..
I would hope that if other paper error books show serial numbers needed here, they would share them so everyone can access the latest Census..
A shared census benefits everyone..
(We can always do a minor web note error thread, like misaligned 1st & 2nd printings, 3rd shift printing, etc.)
