I came across this token from my home town of Paterson, NJ. There's an indentation in the center of the token that would have allowed it to be spun on a peg to determine how much you would pay (for what I don't know.)

They are called spinners most had a raised dot in the center and on the opposite side you pay with an arrow,animal's tail the were used at bars, were they would point to who would pay for the next round of drinks.Yours is an advertising piece as a lot of them were handed it by beer and liquor companies.
depending on what is advertised on it they can go for $1.50 to$5/6.00
