As jbuck suggested, let's split the previous thread [http://goccf.com/t/115851] into "Half Dollars" and "Golden Dollars".

So that being said...

"I propose a Coin Community Forum project called Project 100K where we in the course of regular commerce spend $100,000 worth of half dollars. Post here with how many you spent, where, and what if any curious anecdotes you have regarding your transaction."

Alright, congrats to everyone who helped the last thread finish! Now we just need to see if this thread can beat the new dollar coin one. Thanks to Mikey for the inaugural post.
I haven't spent any in the last few days, but I'll see if I can tomorrow for the sake of this thread.

Spent $3.50 worth at Walmart on shampoo.

The nice lady's eyes at Walmart got real big when I handed them to her. She asked if I was sure I wanted to spend them. She said they are old, you never know. When she opened the cash drawer she asked one more time if I was sure. I just smiled and said I have more.

$2.50 at grocery store for bottled water.

The cashier was an elderly gentleman. He said "Woe, I haven't seen these in a while!" When I got back to the car, I realized I should say, Yeah, they are fun to spend. Your customers will love them. Maybe that will entice them to hand them out for change if they weren't going to otherwise.
