In total, I've found 8 of these in the last month...I'm keeping the XF+ copies (and another ICCS slabbed I bought earlier,lol). Regarding the attribution of #1, We've covered this before...here's an excerpt from this post: Here's my verification. Nelrak Pillar of the Community United States 974 Posts	Posted 02/04/2008 02:10 am I think #1's "A" placement is too far south to be a hi relief as well. Look at the other 4 and they draw a clear straight line to the dentile while #1 is definitely south. Nice finds! Report this Post to the Staff
KurtS Pillar of the Community United States 5318 Posts	Posted 02/04/2008 03:05 am Well, since a couple people questioned the attribution of #1, I had another detailed look--and I stand by my call. Firstly, I think some people got tripped up by the lighting and color of this coin, so here's a new photo of the A to denticle alignment: At this point I can eyeball this coin without lines. But, as a confirmation here's the attribution guide in Pierre Charest's book where high relief = A to denticle. Note here how the "A" to denticle aligns just slightly right of center. I think that has contributed to some confusion in attribution. I think all good attributions should be compared to a control sample (negative). So here is the '49 off-denticle. Compare this the guide above (labeled "low relief"): For '49, those are the two obverse die varieties. Edited by KurtS 02/04/2008 03:22 am Report this Post to the Staff
