Hi All,
Recently I've returned to my hobby of coin collecting. I've decided to focus on U.S/U.K (G.B) silver coins and non-precious coins.

However, I want one gold in my collection (don't have to be U.K/U.S).
My criteria:
1. Used for trade/commerce.
2. Popular coin.
3. fair price.
4. 1700-1900.
5. AU or better.

I debating between Victoria gold sovereign (shield) or dutch ducat.
Which one was more popular? I'm a missing a coin?

Best,
Mike

I suggest the Liberty Head Eagle or Double Eagle. Common dates in AU/MS condition can be had for a little over melt.
