Franklin Half Dollar W/ Die Cap - Coin Community Forum

xiana New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 01/28/2008 02:53 am I have a 1954 Franklin half dollar with a die cap on both sides of the coin. I have looked all over trying to figure out what this might be worth, but haven't had any luck. Anybody have even a general estimate they could give me? On a capped die the one edge is normal the other was struck through another coin. So lets wait for images on this one. Report this Post to the Staff
xiana New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 01/28/2008 1:29 pm Sorry about that, I had only assumed it was still called a die cap -- I've had so many telling me different things, I must have gotten confused. (I just inherited my dad's coin collection, so he was the expert, not me!) Anyway, here are photos. It may not be worth anything, I don't know. It just seems like something pretty unusual. foundinrolls Pillar of the Community United States 3507 Posts	Posted 01/29/2008 3:53 pm Finally, a REAL spooned coin! For all those that post " Dryer Coins", Heres the real thing! Notice how the details in the center of the coin are not effected. Dryer Coins are consistently damaged on the entire coin. Spooned coins look like this one! Anyway, damaged and not an error. It's worth melt value unless you can find someone interested in a partially spooned coin. Report this Post to the Staff
