Thanks for sharing this interesting article! In the past 9 months or so at work, I have seen two counterfeit polymer $50s. One was really faded, wrinkled, and was obviously printed on paper, that was posted with a notice in the crew room.

The other a coworker received when I was on a shift, and I never bothered to check until he raised a concern about it. We were able return it to the customer just before she left. I must say that the second one was a pretty convincing forgery.

Both counterfeit bills had a legitimate $5 security strip taped to them.

That was very interesting! Until the introduction of the polymer note, I hadn't realized counterfeiting of Cdn currency had become as prevalent as it obviously had. I recall far more frequent media warnings pertaining to counterfeit US notes.

The RCMP stats reveal those alarming past trends as well.
