I did a search on this forum and was surprised to find only one thread about souvenir cards -- which went exactly nowhere. I collect these for their fine line engravings, often printed from original bank note plates by the BEP or American Bank Note. I'd be interested to see some posts from other collectors. I'll share a few favorites here from my collection.

Not to brag, but our club (the Omaha Coin Club) has one of the best souvenir notes around... I don't know if you can call them "Souvenir Cards", but here it is:

COTW, wish I could of picked up one of those. Sold them at the last annual show, right?
Speaking of the annual show, they said we're probably not going to have one this year. Attendance was down and they barely made anything...
Cool note though!

Neat item, CotW! If it was issued as a show souvenir or for a club event, then it would typically qualify as a souvenir card. What kind of paper is it printed on? And is there anything on the back?

I sent an email to the club asking them if they were available... I think you might be able to still buy some by mail, but ill ask.

I have to admit I don't actually have one
Hoping to pick one up come this next meeting though.

In 1995, the American Bank Note Co. put out a series of five reprints of Hawaiian notes. These are not, strictly speaking, souvenir cards, since they aren't souvenirs of any event. But it's a gorgeous set -- each denomination incrementally larger in size and value.

I meant to keep this thread going, but lost track of it until now. I'm in the process of building a website that will have a gallery of all engraved souvenir cards, so I've been doing a lot of scanning lately. Here are a few of the nicer numismatic cards.

These are copies of engravings from notes, no? They're not actually impressed from plates, are they?

Very good. That would necessarily make them limited, as well.

These additions make for a worthy bump.

Yes, these are nearly all printed from original plates. On some cards, like the spider press cards that were hand-pulled on demonstration presses at shows, the plate impression is quite apparent. Here's a philatelic card that shows this.
