I just finished searching through my first box of lincoln cents. I found 7 wheat cents. (2- 1958D, 2-1945, 2-1954D, and a 1952S) I also found 2 candadian cent. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it. Is this a good average as far as the number of Lincoln Cent found in one $25 box? I also seperated ( I learned this by reading post on the forum)all of the cents made prior to 1982. I have learned a lot from everybody here. Thanks for the advice.

Those seem to be about right. I have done 4 boxes and found 41 wheats I think (going off the top of my head since I am at work). For Canadian pennies its about the same number give or take a couple. And for 1982 and earlier coppers, somwhere around 34%. So it sounds like you're on the right track and it can get addicting in a hurry!

i searched a 100 bucks worth saturday night...it was great! we found 14 wheat pennies, and 8 canadians. the oldest wheat was a 1936. several were from the 40's... my family member showed me a 1905 and 1907 indian head they had--that was pretty cool.

I search about $200 a month, sometimes more. I usually average 10 wheats per box (brinks box). I get around 10 canadians as well per. I started saving pre 82 copper, then realized its a waste of my time and just dumped them back into the banks. Also, this is the first time I actually saved the canadian cents, why do people save these and what should I be looking for? Oldest I've ever found was a 1904 IHC, next oldest being a 1916D wheatie. Last $50 box gave me a AG 1918 wheatie. Its always fun to find those old worn coins. Lots of BU memorials I keep as well.

I once found a 1916, but other than that its been my luck to find 40s and 50s.
I save the canadians because...well why not right? I don't know whats worth what and which ones are the rare ones but I very much enjoy collecting them. Its my goal to put together a set exclusively pulled from US circulation. I started saving them around Christmas time and have managed to already build a collection of maybe 20 cents. I also am working on a Canadian Nickel set, as I search nickel boxes all the time and seem to find anywhere from 1-5 Canadians a box. I pulled a VF 1989 today that I needed.

I seem to find one Wheat cent for every four rolls. I save pre 82 cents and Canadian ( I am not sure why), is there a folder out for canadian cents. All 1983 cants and later cents go into my change bucket and eventually I turn it in. This is how I got my 1931 s cent. My next bucket will be for a 1909 s.

Nice finds, I average around 6 wheat cents and 3 canadian cents a box. Sometimes I get really lucky and find an indian head.

Hi ceaton,
I did not find it my change, I am not that lucky. I purchased it at a coin show. The coin is VF. Although about 10 years ago (maybe a little longer)I got a 1914 D in change. I would rate it a G. I was not collecting coins at the time, I saved all wheat cents that I came across. When I started to collect coins I went through the jar and was able to fill many slots in the book. Most of my pre 1940 coins are vf or lower, most of the others were from the bargain bins at coin shows. Post 1959 cents are AU execpt for the S proofs.
All I need to complete My Dansco Lincoln Proof book (8100)are:
1909 S VDB 1909 S 1922 Plain
These will take a while, probably a long while.
