hi, new to the site for posting, been reading/researching for a while. I'm a metal detectorist here in Cincinnati & have found two unique tokens/ coal scripts & am wanting to see if anyone can help me with information.
The first is a 5 cent trade for merchandise token from the Booth Blue Gem coal company in Packard Ky. I have found that they were only in business for 5 years 1925-30 with 30 employees.
The Second is a 5 cent in trade token from Elmwood Place Ohio (Cincinnati) Jim Brune Any info would be very appreciated. I apologize for the pictures, if they are not clear enough, I can try again.

Thanks, I've searched there as well, with little to no results.

I just ordered a copy of Eadkins Catalogue of United States Coal Company Store Scrip 4th Edition Volume 1 Exclusive of West Virginia.

This covers states other than West Virginia.

Once I get this in hand, I'll take a look and see what it has about your coal token.

The book arrived today and I took a look.

The Booth Blue Gem Coal Co. Inc. Packard, KY is listed in the book which is good news. The even better news is that you have discovered an unlisted token. The denominations listed in the book are for 10 cents, 50 cents and $1.00.

Kisskrazed, thanks so much for the post. I am a collector of tokens from this Coal Company because of family connections and can provide a little more to what has already been posted. It was incorporated in December 1923 by George Booth and H. S. Booth. The President/General Manager/Purchasing Agent listed in 1924 was S. Booth. H. S. Booth was Treasurer. The company that year had 35 Employees who . The coal was sold/distributed through a company owned by my family, Southern Coal & Coke in Knoxville Tennessee. Let me know if I can be of any more help.
