1/48 écu, France 1644.

Just 0.57 g and 12.5 mm across - possibly the smallest coin minted in France since medieval times.

To get an idea of the range of sizes in this series of silver coins, here are four, from the largest, 1 écu, down to the smallest, the 1/48 écu.
