Have this 1897-O Morgan and I'm trying to figure out what's going on with it. Maybe looks like a old cleaning? I'm thinking AU58 if its original. Just a slight touch of rub on the high parts of the coin.

Cleaned then re-toned, looks like a fingerprint on the right side of the obverse?

AU-55, possibly lightly cleaned. I'm hesitant to say details since no hairlines so giving the coin the benefit of the doubt I'll say AU-53 market grade.

AU Details, looks like they tried to polish the tone off the obverse.

This is a coin that was in the family for awhile. It was marked BU, but didn't think it was truly a BU when I first saw it. Thought a low 58. Maybe ill set it aside for a few years and let nature takes its course to look a little more market friendly.

No hairlines on the coin,so it wasn't polished. I think they tried to mess with one side of it and it didn't turn out the way they liked so they left it alone. Thanks for the replies guys, just confirmed my thoughts that something about the coin was off a bit.
Rest in Peace

The obverse has the look of a coin that has been over-dipped being completely stripped of original mint cartwheel lustre.
