Vendor picture; not in hand

Is this cleaned?

The reverse, especially, has no "dark" around the letters and devices.

I don't see anything that screams out "CLEANED!!" It might have been dipped in the past sometime, but overall looks ok to me (minus the hits).

Has a "washed out" look that suggests the surfaces aren't original. I don't see any obvious hairline scratches from an abrasive cleaning however. Significant contact marks on the reverse are distracting but don't rise to the level of "damage" IMO.

Grades around VF-30 or so for details. Might be attractive at a price of around $30; any higher and I'd pass.

The damage on the reverse is a distraction.

VF35. the reverse marks are most likely deep enough to warrant a details designation. the coin has the appearance of an old dipping.
Rest in Peace

If this coin was cleaned It was ever so lightly . Some issues on reverse . VF-30 Sounds right .I would buy it at the right price .

I passed (well, actually it sold for more than I was willing to pay). The surface didn't look quite right to me--so I thought I'd get expert opinions--thanks! Maybe the lighting?

Probably a good decision. The reverse marks really bother me as well - almost graffiti.

I'd say that the obverse has been given a light wipe, especially in the left field. The darkness in the protected part around Ms. Liberty's crown and on the protected areas around stars tell me that the coin has had some surface material removed from it. It's still probably commercially acceptable.
