I live in Hawaii, and found this token locally, but can find no mention of it. It is the same on both sides. It has one rim circle, and inside the circle it is stamped W on the north and south, and R on the left and right, with a five pointed star in the middle. I hope someone has some info on it.

Probably not a transit fair token as the only Railroad tokens from There are marked with the railroad name and good for one far on the reverse. More likely a store token of some kind. I couldn't find it in your states token catalog pages. You can check them again, http://www.tokencatalog.com/ And the other thing is it might not even be from your state or territory.

Look up the Wai Water Company Railroad, now defunct, as the most likely issuer. Railroads often issued checks for wood or other materials to station agents as a means of inventory control.

CCF member DrDarryl may have some insight and information as he collects Hawaii related items.

I got in touch with Don Metcalf, who wrote the book on all coins Hawaiian. His answer was: Nice try but unfortunately its not Hawaiian.

Mahalo,(means thank you). Anyway, I'll continue searching. Thanks to you all.
