I apologize for not including pictures as this coin does not belong to me. I was asked if i'd be interested in it, to come up with a reasonable price and make an offer but I have no idea what it is worth.

The coin weighed 2.2 grams, was non-magnetic (all confirmed by me) and was well-circulated (around a VF).

I have two questions: Is this a common error for this date? And also, what is a reasonable offer for a coin like this?

Thanks

I've had 2 like this. Both 1973. I brought them into Colonial Acres Coins to show Kirk and he says hey! I have a couple just like them!.
So all at one time, there was 4 of these Infront of me.
I bought mine for $40 each and sold them on ebay for $75.
There is zero eye appeal to the coin as it looks exactly like a normal dime. No colour difference, same size, almost the same weight, well circulated.
I don't remember the country the planchets originated from ( Barbados I think?), but there must be a large amount of these coins out there.

I say don't pay too much.

Now I'm tempted to go to the bank and buy a box of dimes. :)

Thanks for the info guys. Will not be purchasing this coin as the owner is asking several times the amounts mentioned here. I've also found a previous action result for a coin in similar condition for 80$. Might have to look through my 1973s...

Struck on a planchet intended for Barbados 10-cent. I sell VF grades for about $40 or so... there would be a significant price increase for a mint state version, but they are almost impossible to perceive in common change, so most I have seen are circulated.
