Been in the sports card collecting hobby for a while. Came upon some handed down coins, so thought i'd give this forum a try.

where can I find out the basics about coin grading? Are there multiple grading companies? (for cards, there are 2 main companies)

aboard. There is a wealth of information on this site.

There are two popular grading companies. They are PCGS and NGC. ANACS is a trusted one as well, but not as popular.

As far as grading goes, you can go to the PCGS website and they have some good videos. I would also recommend searching this site. Lot of good information on here for you to become an informed coin community member.

goterps04!

A very helpful online reference for grading, in addition to joeysanders627's excellent recommendations, is PCGS Photograde:

All the best,

Mark

P.S. I love your nic.

Awesome thanks. Photograde website sounds cool.

I think I read that ANAC is the only one that doesn't require paying for a membership. I'm probably only going to want to grade 20-30 coins, one time. A paying membership doesn't sound worthwhile from that aspect.
