Hi, I am new here. I was wondering what everyone thought of the Pop Art: Celebrating the Canada Goose coin. The mintage seems relatively low, however, the coin doesn't look all that popular (at least in terms of selling out quickly). Does anyone here have this coin? http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/2-oz...hop-Silver_&Edited by tr9865 10/31/2016 08:25 am

Art coins are to taste, to me it's poorly designed.

Hi tr9865! While I didn't buy one, a bit of into....The Pop Art Goose was released back in February http://goccf.com/t/251064The very same month the Pysanka Easter Egg was an extremely popular item which may have overshadowed interest or attention of the Pop Art coin. You're right, low mintage 3000 and it nicely compliments a 2oz collection. Issue price $169 but my gosh, ebay already indicates a couple of sales just over $100. Gatewest also has the coin on hand and is known to be very flexible in "best offer" pricing. The photos of the actual item are excellent, far superior to the stock pics, In my opinion this is a good example of a typical situation whereby an attractive NCLT just gets lost within the high numbers of releases each month, very quickly devalues, and its purchasers become disgruntled and flee the hobby, On the other hand for those who are patient and want to add it to a 2oz collection, it's also an excellent example of how practising patience can dramatically reduce the cost (and losses) when collecting NCLT.

I brought them for my wife to give her customers, the art aspect should be more interesting for those who do not collect coins.

to the CCF Quote: In my opinion this is a good example of a typical situation whereby an attractive NCLT just gets lost within the high numbers of releases each month, very quickly devalues, and its purchasers become disgruntled and flee the hobby, Wildflower nailed it. If I would collect the Art themes, it will be on the list. It more artistic rather than coins with superheroes. But it not popular, similar to 99% art related RCM coins....the mints will sell well infinite cliche designs, but not the art. Anyway, if you want it - wait a little bit for sales - and grab from CA or Gatewest.

It's a very nice coin in hand, some of the subtle details can't be appreciated from the pictures.

It's a very nice coin. The mint comes out with too many loon, goose and wildlife coins and I think they've just lost their appeal to most collectors.

But there is not a lot of demand for them especially when the RCM can't sell out of them in 10 months with only 3000 mintage. Mintages are not the problem with the RCM; its the over producing of coins with themes no one really care for is the problem. Like the Trivial Pursuit Coin. The RCM has released more than 200 coins this year with 2 more months to go. Now we are having mid-month releases. No wonder we forgot all about this 2 oz art coin that came out earlier this year.

The design completely fails to appeal to me, though admittedly I haven't seen it in person. Glad you're happy with it though... I suppose that's one benefit to the plethora of releases: sooner or later there's a coin for just about everybody :)

Like everyone says on this thread: "If you collect art pieces, then this is the one for you".
This coin does not fit in with what I collect.
I did collect the 7 sacred teachings only to find that now they are worth half price. They were sold on the shopping channel. That hurts. The moon masks too were sold at discount pricing as well. Aboriginal art coins produced by the mint always seem to take a tumble. Really sad.
