someone once told me, that in china, a replica can be made of anything within 24 hours. This picture sort of confirms that

WOW, where can I get one of those machines?

I am guessing that someone is bragging by having those pictures or they were busted and those are evidence photo's.

Gotta at least admire that entrepreneurial spirit! Well, sorta.

It's just a little disconcerting this goes on in such an unregulated, unpoliced manner. Without jumping to any conclusions as to where this is being done, does anyone else think this problem could become acute as things really pick up and production standards improve? I sure do.

Update: what die are those red !! pointing to?

Kurt, eventually, they will get good at this and fakes will be hard if not impossible to detect. I can remember when a Chinese wrench would spread and break the first time you leaned on it. I have a set today that works just as well as my Snap-Ons. As lont as their Govt thinks this is art instead of counterfeiting we don't have a chance.

Well, I'm glad their economy is really moving, but if any copyright infringement and counterfeiting is fair game, that's ultimately going to be a big problem. I just hope it's dealt with before the issue comes to a head.

They have way too many mouths to feed and anything generating revenue and not breaking their laws specifically will be tolerated. The only way this stops if if outside forces bring pressure. Since Walmart is the largest importer of Chinese products in the world, if they insisted that it stop "or else" it would stop. It will never happen on a voluntary basis.

Jim, well, everyone has an excuse for cutting corners, don't they?

At the risk of being off-topic, China had many mouths to feed years ago, but did their economy involve so much piracy? Maybe it's the same everywhere?

That said, I really admire their hard work to get where they are now, but since business ethics matter so much to me, I'll say that good standards instill fair competition which can only help them in the long run. If the industrial piracy/espionage continues in this vein, there's going to be some kind of intervention that will only hurt economies. I'm not too hopeful that WMT will set a high standard here, lol.

Ok, back to talking about coins...and not my professional peeves.

As their economy develops further, they will begin to become generators of intellectual property too - that's when it will be in their best interest to accept their international obligations and enforce property rights.

But more on topic I would also like to know what the red arrow is pointing to. Anyone?
