I bought this a while back and forgot to write down the info I was told about it. I believe it's a Polish Grosz. Can someone who knows these coins maybe help with the date and how bad does the missing piece hurt the value?

Thanks in advance,
Blair

I have no idea of value but it's 1624 and Poland-Danzig. I'm not sure of the denomination. My guess is one Grosz, but I'm completely unfamiliar with the system.

I'm going blind... as soon as I read your post I looked close at the photo and saw the date! I knew it was 1 Grosz it was the date and verification it was Poland-Danzig that I was seeking and maybe an idea of value.

Thank you so much for your fast reply!

1 Grosz / Sigismund III. 1624. Gdansk (Danzig) issue.
Obv: SIGIS:III.D.G.REX.POL.D.PR. = Sigismund III by the Grace of God King of Poland and Duke of Prussia
Rev: GROSSVS.CIVI:GEDANENSIS.1624 = Grosz / Groschen, City of Gdansk / Danzig, 1624.

Krause lists $16 in VG and $55 in VF. I would grade yours gF-aVF or possibly a full VF with the corollary that the planchet is notched.

Be careful not to bend it or press on it firmly as it is probably quite brittle.

I put it in a 2x2 and put it in a sleeve on a 20 coin page. That should be safe for it no?
