I stopped by the bank today where I do all my usual banking to deposit a check and the teller told me "Hang on a second, I have something for you." I waited and she came back with an envelope that had 8 Ikes in it. She was saving them for me as I always ask for them. No silver, but a good mix from 1972 to 1976, all circulated. It goes to show if you treat your tellers right, they will take care of you. Jim

That's cool....I have one teller that tries to help me. She has really never come up with anything, but she's looking out for me. I just want some 2008 cent rolls, they don't even get them at the 2 banks I visit....arrrrrgggg.

My bank has three branches in town......and the one closest to me has a coin collector working there !.......Sad for me....but it works as a "dump station" pretty well !

Dillon....... quote: "dont meen to sound like a n00b but, what is a Ike? The "Ike", as it's referred to, is the Eisenhower dollar coin....minted 1971-1978....(with the San Fransisco Mint making some "silver clad" ones in various years)

I think Eaglefoot covered it, so I will add... The Greatest US Coin ever minted!

Now that is a great teller. Since I just opened an acct here in small town USA, the ladies there know that I am a collector, and so does the new coin counting machine Hopefully one day this random act of kindness will happen to me as well.

Teller if you treat them right they will find you some nice stuff! I give them gifts when I need a roll of coins and they even call me when coins I get come in and hold them till I make it there.
*there a lot of collectors in Huntsville so having 2 teller as friends helps!

Just today one of the tellers that I deal with on a regular basis gave me a silver quarter that she had been saving. I was speechless! I thanked her profusely!

I used to be a commercial teller and really picked up some great coins in 2 years on the job. There was never a week when I didn't find at least something to take home! Also, every week I would order a box or two of halves, keep what I wanted and dump the rest at another bank. I found some unbelieveable boxes! It sure of made the low pay job alot funner.

This afternoon my wife called me to let me know that the branch she uses for her work had saved me a 1934 $20. I had opened an account with this bank at this branch just for purchasing halves but wasn't using this branch because it is out of the way. It was really cool that they remembered me (and my wife) and went out of their way to save this bill for me. I'll post pics later in a different thread. Needless to say these girls will be getting some Frosty's really soon :)
