In honor of my 500th post coming up, I decided to hold a contest. I will be listing a bunch of questions below and you have to respond with the correct answers to them. I will be giving away some Indian cents and Buffalo nickels to the winner of this contest. Nothing fancy in the coins- they are low grade commons; this contest is more for fun and to test your extensive US coin knowledge and/or expand it. Break out your Red Books, Blue Books, and Black Books! Rules: 1) Must have 50 or more quality posts. 2) Only one entry per person and no editing allowed. 3) The first person with 11 of 12 correct answers will win the contest. If there are no winners after 1 week, I will provide clues as to which questions have been correctly answered and will allow you a second posting- but you have to wait until I give the green light for a 2nd post. 4) Please answer your questions by number order. This will help me check answers quickly. 5) You may give the same answer to a question as a previous poster but make sure you have at least one different answer. Good luck to all! Questions1. What was the last year in which no US cent was minted? 2. In what year(s) was the "P" mint mark found on the US cent? 3. What coin 1st featured the motto "In God we trust"? 4. What was the last year of the US Morgan silver dollar that featured the "CC" mint mark? 5. What year(s) features two different type coins having the same overdate? 6. What US coin had the nickname "Bugs Bunny"? 7. On what US coin and what year did the motto "E Pluribus Unum" first appear? 8. What is/are the only commemorative US quarters issued by the US mint? 9. What was the 1st year mint marks appeared on US coins and what was/were the mint(s)? 10. What was the first US coin to feature an African-American? 11. What was the first living person to appear on a US coin? 12. What is the name of the first woman to hold the post of Chief Engraver of the US Mint and what is the name of the current Chief Engraver of the US Mint? Edited by mycrob 05/06/2008 10:13 am
