Go to http://www.traildies.com a trial die is a/worn out die where metal flows I perpendicular lines from the details. The lines on your coin are abraded polishing marks

Not sure what you think you see?... Seems normal coin, the 68 series had bold details and close to rim on master dies (the dies that every other die sets made from)

I do see both MD and doubling on obverse. Reverse is straight MD. However, I don't think the doubling is true doubling but die deterioration/over polishing perhaps.
1. I'm no expert but I'll give my two cents.

2.My favorite coin so far: 1913 Buffalo nickel matte proof type II reverse

The date appears to have MD but the top right arm of the Y in LIBERTY looks interesting.

Confer, look at center top bar of T, please explain "notching" in center of device. I suspect a form of die deterioration or possibly start of a filled cavity?
