I made earlier today post about this coin on grading section. I am still at very early stages of how to learn VAMming. I have looked VAMworld pictures and descriptions.
For this coin two best resambles (for me) are VAM-48 and VAM-69 (reverse c3q and c3v. I am leaning towards VAM-69. I don't have this coin yeat at hand and auction house pictures is all I have. So if you have clear attribution, advices or suggestions from these pictures please do comment. Thank you.
This likely has to await the coin in-hand so you can confirm the presence or absence of doubling at certain spots. Both of the VAMs you mention share one face with other varieties, and 23 shows no reverse image to get a feel for mint mark location and alignment. 1880-S is a pretty problematic year to attribute, so we're going to need all the data we can get.
