A missing S in the designers initials TS-I finally figured it out. I didn't even know about this variety.
Please enlighten us-how rare is it?

I don't know much about it. However the newest Charlton has this variety listed while the last few editions did not have it. I can say the total mintage for the 1974 half is 3,436,650 and for the missing S listing it says included. I believe this variety is fairly rare. I think I overpaid somewhat but at the time it was the only one listed on ebay. SPP-Ottawa can fill us in on this variety.

Quote: Please enlighten us-how rare is it? It is quite scarce... more so in mint state grades. I sold one graded ICCS MS-64 last year for $350. That is the finest one I ever found.

I bought a bulk lot of 1974 50 cts a few years ago with 12 missing S coins in it. I peddled off the poorer ones on e-bay for a discount and sent the 3 best ones to ICCS. One of each MS62,MS63 and a MS64.

Another mint state one coming up for auction, at the February Paris (Ontario) Coin Show, with Geoffrey Bell Auctions... there was some spirited bidding and a strong hammer price for the one sold in 2019 (see above post). http://auctions.gbellauctions.com/1...ty_i35534726
