Hey guys, I got this coin today. I needed to fill this hole in my set. I know she has been around the block more than a few times, but I got the itch to own this coin. Anyway, I'm curious to see what y'all think of it.

Might make G-04 details. Nice filler coin though with readable date .

Like you say, it isn't problem free but it is still a 1796 1s year type draped bust large cent with a strong date.

That spot on the reverse looks like an area with the beginnings of corrosion. I'm soaking it in VerdiCare, but I don't think it is going to look any better. If it is corrosion, I want to disable it as much as I can.

Nice '96! It seems to have nice surfaces and color. The obverse is weaker than the reverse - however, all in all I would still grade G4, not details.
As far as the variety, I am going up with S-107 which is a R-5 variety (cc includes several G6's).
A nice early cent, and scarce.

Here it is before I busted it out. Supposedly an S-108. R-5. Not sure this rarity would hold a premium. I think it was borderline G-4 but got knocked down to AG-3 due to the blemish.
