Hello,

I don't know if anyone here collects shipwreck coins or numismatic shipwreck items but if you do please go ahead and post them. And if you want to talk about the history of the particular shipwreck your coin/item was salvaged from that would be great too.

I'll start:

This is probably my favorite shipwreck coin that is in my collection. It's a Sweden 2 Daler plate money copper coin of Frederick I, dated 1742; KM#PM71. Salvaged from Danish Asiatic Company Vessel "Nicobar" in March, 1987

That is the same size as the newest cell phones people cram in their pockets now! They were preparing us for the future back in the 1700s.

In all seriousness, that is an amazing piece of currency.

I purchased this for $30 from a pawn shop that didn't know what they had.

@DrDarryl,

Cool shipwreck gold nuggets, Thanks for posting them!

Here's some gold dust from the same shipwreck:

@MikeF,

That's a real good find, you can't go wrong at $30.

Here's is mine from the El Cazador but I will admit that it did cost a bit more than $30.

I bought a set of VOC (Dutch East-Indies Company) coins which were on board the Batavia, a ship that sank in 1790.

It somehow got lost in a box here, but I'm sure they'll be found again one fine day.
