I have been re-reading scans of old Commodore magazines at commodore.ca and came across a couple of advertisements related to our hobby.

This topic might not go far, but decided to post it here in case anyone wanted to share theirs. These have to be from non-numismatic periodicals. Nothing from Coins, CoinAGE, Coin Prices, etc. (For what I hope would be obvious reasons.)

The first one specifically mentions coin collecting and includes images of coins.

An ad with Ike. Enough said.

Okay, it also mentions collectibles.

This topic is going to be tough - but interesting!

Here's a Paramount International Coin Corporation ad from 1978 that promotes the coins and stamps issued by Russia for the 1980 Olympics that were to be held there. The ad seen ran in Boy's Life magazine.

Great start gents ... I suspect this is going to be a tough thread to add new content.

That said ... Extending my sincere appreciation for the valued contributions of the two CCF members above - jbuck and commems

You both are amazing.

Well, every time I open Parade (Sunday newspaper insert), Littleton is trying to get me to buy coins on approval or one of the private mints is trying to sell me a painted quarter or half dollar! Probably NOT what you had in mind, though.

Littleton would like you to believe it is a huge portal that draws new collectors into the hobby, but in my experience over a long lifetime, the Sundman family thrives on selling hyped beginner sets, gold-plated Buffalo nickels, overpriced everyday coins and flea-market junk.

But of course, Coin World gave David Sundman a "Top 100 Numismatists of All Time" award.

I wonder if Littleton advertises in Coin World?

I saved these some time ago, as can be seen from the old-style pound coins that were replaced by the bimetallic ones in 2017!

Fantastic ads!

I could have said "No Littleton Ads," but I am glad they have so far been avoided.
