Found this 1993 penny with these strange lines appearing behind, above and below the maple leaves. Anyone know what caused these lines?

Do you Canucks suffer from roller lines like we do? Ours is caused by the rollers of the planchet stock plate for punching the blanks is dirty and stains the planchets, doesn't wash clean.

These lines aren't stains and are marked into the surface.

Feeder finger damage? The mechanism that places the coins into the press gets out of sync at times and the underneath will scrape across the anvil die. Underneath has ridges...that's how ours work, imagine yours is similar.

I think our "Canuck" coins have the obverse as the anvil die.
