You have there a 1913 trial note for Bank of Ottawa. For the $5 note, they experimented with adding colors! Very beautiful note, you are lucky to have it :)

What is the difference between a trial note and a specimen note? Also what grade would you give this?

http://www.coinsandcanada.com/banknotes-banks.I checked the above site and while they have no info on your note the Bank of Ottawa is listed. Still its a great reference site  Quote:

Hey CityofKooks, the note trends at $1800 in UNC. For the undated Specimen. It is impossible to tell grade of banknotes online. I am more than happy to look at it if you're ever attending a coin show in the Toronto region! Would love to see the note in hand

It was by accident actually. I was buying a few ICCS coins and the gentleman added this note to sweeten the deal. I had never seen anything like it but it looked beautiful so I took it :)

Beautiful note, but agree it's almost impossible to grade high-end notes from photos.
