Impossible to know the dates of either of these and despite their sub par condition, I am just thrilled to have something to fill the hole in my type set.

Yes - very difficult to get any of the time coins of James II - I have none. I do have a number of William and Mary Tin farthings and one halfpenny, but all in a similar state to your James's, although I have been able to pick out a date on most of them.
