I found this 1946 cent that has some "fattnes" in the letters on the reverse and the dots are elongated. So wondering IF, some sort of Doubled Die error or just wear from circulation?

Look at the dots, oblong? Looks like it. I see little deterioration going on to stretch the letters. I'll do some checking

Yep, good eye!

Hmmm, not sure from where I sit Mark. I'm not an expert on that, (or anything coin related for that matter!) I wouldn't be sure if it's circulation wear or doubling. Others will chime in.

Yeah, that's why I'm asking. I see doubled dies that don't look like nothing - only the obvious ones stand out to me. If it weren't for reading about DD's on here I would have tossed this in my Wheat cent jar

Mark, I can tell that this is a genuine Doubled Die Reverse. You can see the strong extra thickness on EPU, the dots, the wheats, and the the letters "ONE CENT". I will check to see which number it is, but it is definitely a DDR.

Right, Ive got the 55, 72, and 95 DDO's, I can see thoses big time. But good thing David taught me to looks for fat letters and oblong dots on the reverse! There are some DD's that I just can't see though

It looks like 1DR-002 on Coppercoins.com, but you'll have to compare die markers to be sure it's that one.

It's kinda worn to tell die markers but under mag it has the line from under his chin to the lapel. And looks like right wheat has the extra line next to it.

Nice find! The bottom of the L is thick as well as all perimeter devices including the dots. Those are the classic things to look for. Here's a 1937 I found a while back.
