Trying to determine whether I should get this, gold is extremely high but at such a high grade it has a lot of coin value, oh, and it's going for 1400, I'm going to try to get it for 1300, PCGS price guide is trending 2000 for this, so it's a real steal. However, in the long run, I don't know if it's worth it.
Yeah, that's what I thought (about the gold price). And generally how high is it? MS65 is going for 1600 RedBook for common dates and this was when gold was 650 and ounce, plus I think higher grades have gone up since then too.
Judging from Heritage prices realized in 2008 auctions, $1300 would be a very good price. However, if I were ready to hunt down a PCGS Saint in MS-65 I would try for a different date. The 1908 no motto, 1924, 1927, and 1928 are the most common coins in the series. I would rather search for a 1925, 1926, or 1923-D which are all available in PCGS MS-65. Although they are less common than the other four the prices are generally pretty close.
