Hello everyone I have this 1982 D Penny I found. It is larger than the normal Penny it is 20.5mm in diameter and the engraved features are larger as well. Can anyone give me some information on this. Thank you.

I wonder how it survived in circulation. I’d think the first coin machine it would have gone through would have spit it into the random bin.

It's a Texas Cent, the result of hammering a cent between two pieces of leather - it flattens it without major damage to the design.

It's a Texas Cent as mentioned. This is Post Strike Damage (Happened out of the U.S. Mint). Worth face value since it's damage.

They are always dark in color. The stretch makes the plating fall off. (The first clue this is what happened)
